Brett Bruns | Environmental Scientist

Brett Bruns is an Environmental Scientist at Guzi West Consulting, bringing a multidisciplinary background in environmental science, field operations, and renewable energy. He began his professional career in underground utility construction with J Johnson and Company in Santa Cruz while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business with a minor in Environmental Science.

Following graduation, Brett spent several years as a solar technician with Simply Solar, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable energy systems. He later served as a Junior Scientist with GeoKinetics, doing construction inspections and testing VOC mitigation systems, and as a Task Force Leader with Tetra Tech, where he managed debris removal and remediation crews in response to wildfire damage in Altadena, California. His team was recognized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as one of the top-performing crews on the project—a testament to his leadership and commitment to quality control.

Outside of work, Brett enjoys exploring the outdoors, often spending his free time at the beach, participating in sports, hiking in the mountains, snowboarding, traveling the U.S. and the world. Often accompanied by his super sweet pitbull, Wendy, who loves joining him on outdoor adventures and tagging along to public places like restaurants and social events to meet new people.
